Castleberry’s Food Company, a Georgia plant owned by BumbleBee Foods, LLC, is expanding its recall to over 90 types of canned meat products. The recall began with the Castleberry’s labeled hotdog chili sauce, but has been expanded to cover multiple meat products and brand names such as Kroger, Food Lion, and Piggy Wiggly. .

Apparently the canned meat products were distributed nationwide, but was discovered during an investigation into illnesses in Indiana and Texas.

Symptoms of botulism poisoning, which is a rare but serious paralytic illness, include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, and muscle weakness. These symptoms can begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contained the toxin.
